Wishmas
Set & Costume Design | Company: Secret Cinema | Director: Elgiva Field
An immersive family Christmas show. This was Secret Cinemas first ever original content show. Created collaboratively by myself alongside Director, Elgiva Field, writer, Michelle McMahon & Design Associate, Jenna Jardine. Every 20 minutes an audience of 80 were lead through 6 magical rooms in a quest to help Santa and his Elves fulfill people's Christmas wishes.
‘The strongest element of this immersive experience is its set. The rooms are completely festooned with glittering colours, festive trees, twinkling lights and ring with joyful music…The creative team of designer Julie Landau, lighting designer Tim Mitchell and puppet specialist Charlie Tymms have outdone themselves in making a fabulous winter wonderland for children to experience. This set is certainly one I will remember for years to come.’
Theatre & Tonic
‘It is exceptionally unintimidating as immersive theatre goes, a linear journey through a series of beautifully dressed – and fantastic smelling – rooms…’

London Theatre
‘…the production values and design ingenuity of this immersive Christmas experience are such that one can’t help but be transported, even if you don’t have a bedazzled child in tow. Wishmas feels a bit like what would happen if Punchdrunk took over a floor of Hamleys at Yuletide. From a visual and atmospheric point of view, Wishmas is a total success: designer Julie Landau, lighting designer Tim Mitchell and puppet specialist Charlie Tymms collectively give us giant cascades of glowing baubles and a magical train that ascends like a celestial tube from beneath Waterloo up into the stratosphere. There are fir trees, a space-age control room for Santa’s reindeer, gorgeous fat robin redbreasts emerging from brightly coloured birdhouses, a battery of fairy lights, smatterings of snow…the place even smells of Christmas spice.’
Whats On Stage
‘Each room is beautifully designed (Julie Landau)... creating little ‘wow’ moments for children and adults alike as they enter each new space on the tour.’
